About Jeremiah Birnbaum
An educator and filmmaker for over 30 years, Jeremiah is a first generation American who grew up in both the vibrant bosom of Greenwhich Village, NYC, and the frozen heartland of Minnesota. Educated at Wesleyan University and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he spent the first ten years of his career working as an editor and producer on social issue documentaries. He also started Detour Pictures with his college classmates, an NYC-based music video production company that specialized in hip-hop and rap videos. After working with some of the best filmmakers in the business, including multiple Oscar-winners, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area 20 years ago.
In 2005, Jeremiah founded Fog City Pictures, which has produced and co-produced more than a dozen independent feature films and documentaries. His work has screened in theaters, TV, VOD and at dozens of film festivals around the world. He is also a founder of the San Francisco Film School, a nationally accredited college that teaches the art and craft of filmmaking to an international student body. Jeremiah is passionate about producing meaningful films that impact and entertain, as well as, mentoring aspiring filmmakers to follow their passion.
